Like it or not washing your hair is one of those things you can’t avoid a life necessity that if you are anything like us you try to avoid as much as you can. So much so that we created Revelry formulas with washing your hair less as a top priority.
Did you know there is in fact a correct way to wash hair?
Putting a little bit of extra time and thought into how to wash your hair can have BIG results! The right technique can make your style last longer (so less shampooing & blow-drying!!) plus your hair and scalp will be healthier than ever!!
Here are our tips on how to get the most out of hair washing day!!
Preparation is key-
Brush through your hair prior to washing, this can be done with a paddle brush or wide toothed comb. If your hair is curly or extra matted and this is an impossible task, tip your head upside down and run your fingers through your hair as much as you can. This step helps make shampooing easier and more effective.
Washing your hair twice is essential (unless you wash your hair everyday). The first wash releases surface dirt, day to day pollution and product build up. The second wash makes sure it is all removed, leaving your hair and scalp clean and free of any build up.
Rinse: Completely rinse the shampoo from your hair with lukewarm water. Squeeze the excess and when the water runs clear you have finished, although if you are not sure it always better to rinse more rather than less.
All hair types need conditioner as this step is designed to close the cuticle and without it your hair is more open to damage and split ends. Using silicone free conditioner means you get all of the condition without the weight.
Squeeze out as much excess water as possible, this helps you to get the most out of the beautiful nourishing ingredients and actives in your conditioner. Place conditioner in your palm and run through both hands, distribute through the ends of your hair first. Then massage your scalp. For thicker hair comb through with a wide tooth comb or your fingers. If your hair is prone to tangles comb from the bottom up.
Rinse well, and if you are brave enough, a final rinse with cold water helps to stimulate the blood circulation, seal the hair cuticle and leaves your strands extra smooth and shiny.
